Interview with Richard (Dick) Latuchie, CIO
at Regional Health, Rapid City, SD
Like many healthcare organizations, Regional
Health saw the benefits of electronic
medical record keeping as a strategic
initiative towards achieving their long-term
healthcare delivery objectives. As part of
their implementation strategy, Regional
Health decided to migrate from MAGIC to
MEDITECH's Client/Server 5.6 platform and
concurrently put into place a disaster
recovery solution to ensure the safety and
availability of the electronic data. They
chose JJWild as their migration partner.

Interview with Hoda Sayed-Friel, MEDITECH's
Vice President of Marketing
With the
advent of MEDITECH’s Client/Server 6.0
Release, many hospitals are evaluating their
long term strategies - considering a
migration from MAGIC to Client/Server or
updating to 6.0 from an earlier
Client/Server Release. Hoda Sayed-Friel,
Vice President of Marketing for MEDITECH,
recently sat down with our editors to
discuss this.

Setting your course
for MEDITECH 6.0
As we kick off the New Year and plan for
what's ahead, MEDITECH's readiness to launch
Client/Server 6.0 in 2008 is at the
forefront.
The implementation of C/S 6.0 at West
Georgia Health System is well underway, and
Doylestown Hospital, a stalwart adopter and
innovator in the MAGIC community, is well on
the road to moving from MAGIC to C/S 6.0.
Word out of Canton is that MEDITECH
marketing representatives are exclusively
demonstrating C/S 6.0 technology to new
account prospects now. We recently assisted
MEDITECH's Development and Marketing teams
in creating an aggressively-virtualized
environment for the further development and
demonstration of C/S 6.0. With all the
excitement, interest, and potential
questions about six-dot-oh and what it might
mean, we thought it would be useful to
summarize some things we know and provide
some inputs to your planning processes.

JJWild’s Healthcare Optimization Workshop
(HOW ’08) Recap
Leslie Hein Sullivan, Director, Marketing
Communications
JJWild held
our sixth annual Healthcare Optimization
Workshop (HOW ’08) at the Hilton in Dedham,
Massachusetts on June 18, the day before
MEDITECH’s CIO Technology Workshop.
The goal of HOW has remained unchanged for
the past six years. We designed this annual
one-day event as a forum to discuss
significant strategic issues facing
healthcare leaders. We want to encourage
dialog about these important topics through
educational workshops and opportunities for
networking, and let you know we’re here to
help you deal with them.
We were delighted this year to welcome over
120 leaders including CIOs, VPs, IT
Directors, CMOs, and CFOs from over 86
different healthcare organizations in every
region of the United States, the five
Canadian provinces, and England. We were
also happy to have many friends from
MEDITECH take time out of their busy
schedules to join us. Additionally, our
partners BridgeHead, Dell, EMC, FormFast,
Forward Advantage, HP, IBM, Motorola,
Stratus, and VMware participated in the
event, spending quality time with our guests
throughout the day.

JJWild Participates in 6.0 Architectural
Review with MEDITECH
As MEDITECH’s integration partner,
JJWild has been working diligently to
collaboratively test and certify hardware
and software for use with 6.0 and to develop
appropriate infrastructure designs and
services to support 6.0 requirements. We
have partnered with MEDITECH since early
testing phases of 6.0 and have continued to
adjust these designs as new information
about how best to support 6.0 is learned. At
the same time, we’ve developed a suite of
professional services to help organizations
prepare for, plan, budget, and successfully
adopt 6.0. We will continue to align
ourselves closely with MEDITECH and ongoing
6.0 implementations. You can be sure you are
always getting a quotation that is based on
the most up-to-date, accurate information
available to ensure success of your 6.0
deployment and future growth of your
