Using SAN mirroring or “cloning” to maintain dual copies of MEDITECH data, the ISB/IDR technique allows users of BridgeHead’s HT Backup to routinely freeze spare point-in-time copies of MEDITECH data and rapidly back them up or replicate them at the block level to secondary disk or tape including spare disaster recovery volumes at remote locations. This technique lets MEDITECH users create frequent spare data copies and recover them rapidly without imposing any load on the primary MEDITECH application server. The technique is supported on a variety of SAN platforms. BridgeHead is also involved in bringing a MEDITECH certified archiving system to market for users of the newly announced Scanning and Archiving module.
